Universitas Gadjah Mada recognizes the importance of library services in supporting the academic activities. Therefore, the library services are provided at the three levels of management which are University, Faculty, and Department libraries, respectively.
University Library Services
The University provides numerous links to obtain references through the University library website as follows:
- Access to repository of the University. The repository system stores the collections of theses, seminar papers, etc. The repository system can be assessed through the following link https://repository.ugm.ac.id/.
- Access to integrated catalogue of all libraries in the University (http://opac.lib.ugm.ac.id). This service allows all students and faculty member to locate and obtain electronic information available in all libraries in the University. This supports the trans-disciplinary trend of knowledge development.
- Access portal to the collections of the University and various partner institutions is also available through the following link http://i-lib.ugm.ac.id/index.php. This service supports the update and sharing of knowledge between academicians in various institutions.
- Portal to access e-journals, e-books, and e-database subscribed by the University is available through the following link: http://ezproxy.ugm.ac.id/login. Students, faculty members, and other academic community can access these services through the Single Sign On using their username and password of the personal email. The databases subscribed are ProQuest, EBSCO, Science direct, Springer link, APS Physics, MUSE, SJO, ACS Publications, JStor, IEEE Computer Society, Oxford Islamic Studies, AIP, ICE, Wilson Web, Net Library, IGI Global, Annual Reviews, AMA, Global Professional Publishing, Science, Ebrary, Cambridge Journals, and Emerald.
Faculty Library Services
The University and Faculty libraries provide services such as Circulation Service, References Service, Periodic Publishing Service, Final Assignments, Essay, Thesis, and Dissertations, Scientific Work Collections, Rare Collection Service, Windows of the World Service, Membership, Information Desk, and M-Library. The Faculty of Engineering library also provides library facilities to support academic activities including study and discussion rooms, e-lib room, self-study rooms, private-discussion room and personal computers.
The study and discussion rooms are located on the first and second floors of the faculty library building. The rooms are equipped with private desks and group desks with electric sockets attached to each desk. The e-lib room contains 12 PC units, two LED screens as well as group desks for students’ discussions and works on assignments.
The self-study room located at the third floor provides silent-environment for self-study. This room is also equipped with numerous pairs of desks and chairs. The private-discussion rooms are provided for student group work containing three to eight group members. Each room has 52 inch LED screen, air conditioner, board-markers and erasers. Students can book the room by contacting the librarian in charge. The use is limited up to 4:00 pm.
The Faculty of Engineering library has several units of personal computers (PCs) in the e-lib room. Students are free to use these facilities for working on assignments, internet access, or references searching. Students are also allowed to install new applications on the PC for their education purposes upon librarian’s permission.
Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering Library Services
The Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering library mainly supports the technical collection relative to the needs of the Industrial Engineering field. With the total area of 297m2, the library provides various collections of text books, journals, proceedings, handbooks, magazines, as well as final project, thesis, and dissertation reports. Both physical and digital versions of these collections are available in the library and regularly improved and updated.
There are several computer stations available for students to locate and obtain information regarding electronic information as well as physical books in the department library. There are three librarians ready to help students with library matters. In addition, if a faculty member needs a book or any reference that is currently not available in the library, the faculty member can request the library to order books or subscriptions to the librarians. The librarian will then process for the request and informs the faculty member should the materials have been available. One of the department librarians has also won the best librarian in the University. This proves the capability of the librarians serving the students in the department.
All these library facilities and collections are available for all students and faculty members of the Industrial Engineering Program and satisfactorily support educational and research activities.
